The Wuhan Pharmaceutical Association was established on May 16, 1952, as one of the earliest local branches of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association. In May 2021, the Twelfth Membership Congress was held, and Professor Liu Dong from Tongji Hospital Affiliated to HUST was elected as the Chairman of the Twelfth Council of the Wuhan Pharmaceutical Association, and Professor Wu Jinhua from Wuhan Third Hospital served as Secretary-General. The Association has set up 15 professional committees including Pharmaceutical Affairs Management, Hospital Pharmacy, and Geriatric Pharmacy.
All along, the Wuhan Pharmaceutical Association has adhered to the Party's basic line, united and organized the vast number of pharmaceutical science and technology workers, carried out domestic and foreign academic exchanges in pharmaceutical science and technology, provided continuing education and training for members and pharmaceutical science and technology workers, edited, published, and distributed pharmaceutical academic journals and books, developed friendly exchanges and cooperation with pharmaceutical-related groups and pharmaceutical science and technology workers, popularized and promoted the scientific and technological knowledge of pharmacy and related disciplines, reflected the opinions and requirements of pharmaceutical science and technology workers, accepted government commissioned consultation services related to pharmaceutical development and drug management, organized scientific demonstration and consultation on science and technology and economy involving pharmaceutical science and technology workers to promote the prosperity, development, popularization, and elevation of pharmaceutical science and technology. The new council adheres to the concept of integrating challenges and innovative development, focusing on Wuhan but also reaching out to the Yangtze River and radiating across the country, fully releasing the vitality of the Association and continuously improving its influence in the industry. The Wuhan Pharmaceutical Association is an important force in promoting the development of pharmaceutical science and technology in Wuhan and along the Yangtze River.
